A friend once told me that when I’m reluctant to ask for something to assume the answer will be yes.
I have found this advice especially useful as I navigate the complexities of peri-menopause.
Need the temperature turned down a notch (or three)?
Need to move the meeting a couple of days, so you’re not sitting there worried about bleeding through your super-plus tampon and pad?
Need to schedule the work dinner at 6 PM instead of 8 PM because you can’t stay attentive (or even awake) past 10 PM?
Just go ahead, make the request, and assume the answer will be yes. Assume people won’t mind. Don’t feel like your needs are a big deal or you’re unworthy of a slight adjustment. If there’s an objection, let someone make it.
Think of it this way: There may be a long string of people waiting to say “no” to you…but you don’t have to put yourself first in line!!
