Have you noticed that once you became “a certain age,” conversations about sex education stopped? For some reason, sex-related precautions no longer seem to apply. But my wise mother, who has shared with me many stories about her dating experiences, told me recently, “Just because I can’t have babies anymore doesn’t mean I’m immune to STDs. I tell my beaus to wrap it up if they want to be with me.”
As I head into my senior years, I know there are many benefits to a healthy, active sex life. Thanks to Mom, I also know I’ll be vigilant about protecting myself now just as I did in my youth.
